social

Hailing from the big apple, the Stack project is a New York based non-profit,
created to help get young people financially literate with a specific focus on
underserved, black and Latinx communities.

Established in early 2020, they provide financial education workshops,
one-to-one financial counselling and guidance through the college application
process with the goal of setting young people up for life. With the Covid-19
pandemic hitting shortly after, their services were vital to helping people
manage financial hardship and access state aid.

We were tasked with creating an effective and engaging brand identity that
resonated with young people, and a full website that showcased who they
were, the mission they were on, provided workshop and counselling
information and allowed donations to be made to them.

A
new
approach
to
personal
finances

It
was
particularly
important
for
the
brand
to
capture
the
attention
of
its
audience
in
order
to
navigate
the
general
indifference
towards
financial
management
that
can
often
be
found
in
younger
generations.

It
needed
to
communicate
that
Stack
really
did
have
something
to
offer
its
audience
and,
due
to
their
focus
on
helping
minority
communities
who
can
often
be
the
most
severely
affected
by
these
issues,
the
brand
had
to
feel
trustworthy,
approachable
and
empathetic.

We
created
a
clean
and
geometric
feeling
brand
centred
around
the
'S'
logomark
which
took
inspiration
from
the
idea
of
a
coin
being
deposited
into
a
money-box.
This
was
paired
with
a
strong
and
contemporary,
sans-serif
typeface
from
and
a
colour
palette
based
around
hues
of
blue
and
turquoise
to
evoke
a
sense
of
security,
clarity
and
inspiration.

Creating
a
robust
and
effective
site

Designed
and
built
from
the
ground
up,
the
site
needed
to
expand
on
the
brand's
mission,
highlighting
the
problems
their
audience
are
facing
and
outlining
how
Stack's
programs
and
services
can
help
to
solve
them.
They
also
required
more
in-depth
insight
into
the
individual
programs
and
education
on
the
current
economic
state-of-play,
both
with
the
aim
of
facilitating
inquiries
and
donations.

All
of
this
was
set
alongside
large
bold
typography,
jovial
language
and
thoughtfully
chosen
imagery
aiming
to
reflect
the
communities
and
groups
Stack
are
focused
on
helping.
The
result
was
a
robust
and
effective
package
that
would
raise
the
profile
of
the
brand
and
help
more
people
benefit
from
the
work
they
are
doing.
